The project "Ecologico International Film Festival"
The project "Ecologico International Film Festival" aims to promote through cinema, awareness of the environment, the land, and the traditions and culture commonly found in the Region of Puglia.
The current development and economical model gives very little value to the countryside and nature, it is often only taken into consideration for its value as a piece of land, and man sees it only as a way of making money.
We are having to face a total cultural vacuum, which is being lost in oblivion, which will eventually leave us with only the memory of what once was, of what the area was once like. The world of Independent cinema, has offers in last year’s, the possibility of filling this vacuum, demonstrating with great sensitivity themes connected to the protection of the environment with many directors contributing to a consciousness raising exercise, through their works, and by really having something to say.
The “Ecological Film Festival” also aims to promote its ideas in the schools, using cinema workshops, by educating and informing about the environment. We aim to make students more sensitive, and to look at the world, nature and environmental resources in a different way different way. The “Ecological Film Festival”, therefore, proposes as an ulterior opportunity with the promotion of cultural and social growth both for the Salento area and the Region of Puglia. It sees itself as a meeting point to transmit both knowledge and awareness with new emerging reality and through this, promote a consciousness and a floor for debate on environmental themes, protection of the area and the development of an awareness of the landscape.
